Born and grew up in Sarawak, Ariffin completed his secondary education at St. Thomas, Kuching before he obtained his Diploma in Public Administration at ITM, Sabah branch in 1994. He then pursued his law degree and graduated from the University of Malaya LLB (Hons) in 1999. Furthering his pupillage in the chamber of Azlan Sulaiman of Messrs Ghazi & Lim, Kuala Lumpur, he was eventually called to the Malayan Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in 24th March, 2000. Ariffin continued his practice at Messrs Ghazi & Lim until September 2002. Prior to incorporating his firm, he was a partner at Messrs Rafida Razak & Co, Kuala Lumpur until December 2003. Ariffin’s professional record includes general litigation dealing with matters of debt recovery, foreclosure, bankruptcy and company winding-up and execution proceedings. As a corporate legal advisor he attended meetings of shareholders and has dealt with a broad expanse of corporate matters. His court experience encompasses both civil and criminal litigation. Adding to his professional profile, he is a qualified Aikido instructor and has taught the art at the Polis Training Centre (Pulapol) and has conducted seminars on Personal Safety Awareness, Self-Defense and the Law. Ariffin is also on the board of several private companies. Ariffin was called to the High Court in Sabah & Sarawak as an Advocate in July 2008 and now is also a Partner in the Sarawak chambers. Taufiq Bin Abdul Khalid was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in 1970. He earned his LLB (1994) in Leeds University, UK, before proceeding to be called as a Barrister-at-law in Lincoln’s Inn in 1998. He was called to the Bar in 1999. Between his LLB and professional qualifications, he was attached with the Securities Commission of Malaysia (Mutual Funds Unit) for one year. He practiced as a partner in Messrs Mior Farid & Taufiq Khalid for two years before venturing into the oil & gas and ICT industry as an advisor to a small O&G company, Fame Offshore. As an offshoot of this involvement, Taufiq proceeded to join a group of offshore construction specialists in Urus Offshore Sdn Bhd. Back in practice, Taufiq is the Partner for areas of Corporate, Energy & Utilities, Labour and ICT. The corporate work of the Firm has diversified in the 4 years to involve myriad areas, inter alia, such as: -

M. Fairuz Masri completed his LLB (Hons) from University of Malaya in 2001, and was called as Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in the following year. He commenced legal practice as a Legal Assistant at Messrs N. K. Tan & Rahim, undertaking commercial and banking litigation. Thereafter, in 2003, he joined Messrs Azlan Shah Shaikh & Rashidi and was attached to their branch office in Ipoh, Perak where he was focused on handling a national water treatment company litigious matters. Currently the Partner in charge of the Firm’s Civil & Criminal Litigation Unit, Fairuz is also now a managing partner of the Kuching Firm. In the short history of the Firm, Fairuz has had the opportunity to work in various areas of law, inter alia, as follows: -

Roland Thomas Tudin graduated with an LLB (Hos) from University of Malaya in 1992. He was thereafter called to the Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1992. Thereafter he decided he pursue his vocation in his home state, Sarawak, and was duly admitted as an Advocate to the High Court of Malaysia in Sabah and Sarawak in Kuching, Sarawak in 1995. He began his professional career in Messrs Battenberg & Talma. His prior tenure as a partner prior to joining the Firm was with Messrs Besar & Talip Tudin. Nor Shafahana Binti Shaik Shukkor was born in Penang in 1983 where she spent most of her childhood before moving down to Kuala Lumpur. She earned her LLB (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Mara, UiTM in 2007, She was admitted as an Advocates & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2009 after completing her pupilage under the guidance of Mr. Abang Ariffin Bin Abang Bohan of Messrs Ariffin Shahzad and now has remained in practice with the Firm. After pupilage, she now sits in the Corporate Unit assisting Taufiq.
